...darling little GIRL!!

Gender reveal paint fight

We are so very excited to welcome this sweet little one in our lives in less than 4 months!!

I knew from before we even got pregnant that I didn't want just some stranger ultrasound tech to tell us what our little one was but we wanted to do something special. I love having important events in our life to be documented in some way (because I have the memory like a goldfish!) and so I started perusing pinterest for some fun ideas.

Gender reveal paint fight

When I told my dear friend, Nakalan, about our idea to do a paint fight where she would hand us either pink or blue paint, she was all for it!! On the day of our 20 week ultrasound we both took the day off work and drove straight to meet her at a secluded park on the outskirts of town right after our appointment with envelope in hand.

It was all we could do to not open that darn envelope on our 30 minute drive to the park.

During the ultrasound, I asked the tech how confident he was about the gender. His response? "100% sure!" Both our first thoughts was either he's really cocky or it has to be a boy because how else would he know 100%. My gut told me it was a boy and with the tech saying that he was 100% certain, I thought for sure it had to be a boy.

But boy were we wrong!

When it finally came time to throw paint at each other, let's just say there was let's of squealing and screaming and shocked faces when pink paint came flying out. Pretty sure both our jaws dropped! We couldn't stop laughing because we both so thought, without a doubt, it was a little boy. I kept asking our photographer if she was sure she read the paper right so she finally got out the paper to show us and indeed.....GIRL circled with three exclamation points!!!

I am so glad that we have these photographs to document this exciting moment in our life! You can see the utter shock and pure excitement written all over our faces in these pictures.

And before someone gets worried about our clothes, I had bought washable, non-toxic craft paint from Michael's with the hopes it would come out of our clothes. Just to be safe though,  I went to Goodwill looking for our outfits in case they didn't pull through. And it's a good thing I did. After washing our clothes twice you could still see major pink paint stains. So if you plan on ever doing a paint fight, heads up that in large quantities, the washable paint won't necessarily come out of your clothes. But boy was it so worth it!

Our sweet little girl already has a closet filled with froofy dresses and lots of pink and we are so excited to start working on her nursery. When I was talking with a lady at work today I said this is going to be one spoiled little girl....and she reminded me, not spoiled....just loved! And she was so right! This girl is loved so much already by so many people and I can't wait to hold her in my arms in 4 months.

And here's a little sneak peek at our gender reveal party from Sunday when we shared the news with some of our closest family and friends. I can't wait to share with you all the details from our party!

  2. This is ADORABLE! We did a gender reveal as well, and it was such an exciting and happy time. It was SO HARD to not look in the envelope. We bought one boy and one girl outfit and had my husband's co-worker wrap whichever outfit that matched the gender. Those few days of waiting until the reveal felt like months! Little girls are the best!! So happy for you, it's truly an amazing journey!
