Well it's official....we are homeowners!! About two months ago, we decided to seriously start looking at buying a home thinking it would take a few months to find our home. We were hoping to buy in late August, early September. Well, boy were we wrong!!
I had a list of about 30 criteria for our dream home and we were hoping to find a home that fit most of those criteria while still staying in our budget. Everyone made me feel like it would be impossible so I had little hope of finding much of anything that we loved. After getting back in our car from viewing the second house ever though with our realtor, we both looked at each other and just knew. We both imagined raising kids in that home. After less than 5 minutes inside the home, we went with our gut.
Side note: Did you know the average couple views a house for only 8 minutes prior to putting an offer on a home? Our realtor taught us that one and we certainly were worse than that stat.
The next day we put our official offer on the home and then the next 35 days just flew by. We were still in the process of getting preapproved when we found this home so we had lots of papers to scrounge up to get our loan, we had banks to talk to, inspections to attend, and after about 50 or so emails back and forth between us, our realtor, and our mortgage broker that last day, the house was officially ours!
Now for the house details...
5 bedroom - No this isn't too many! Master, guest, office, boy room, girl room. We plan on having 4-6 kids so this is perfect for our future mini-me's!
2.5 bath
2057 sq ft
A not so big but not too tiny yard (which is exactly what we wanted)
On a culdesac - well even better, we pretty much have our own private drive. It's perfect!
And the list goes on...
Over the last month we have slowly been building our list of things we want to do in the home. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this home. But there are things we want to diy to make it our own. This home was actually a flip. Six months ago a guy bought it in terrible condition, gutted it, and made it beautiful. All new finishes inside. I'm so excited to finally be able to decorate however I want in our home and to put up curtains and make cutesy things that will have a permanent home!
Stay tuned for our kitchen update coming soon!
